Ok so the wife and I are currently shopping for our first house and I have a quick question about Septic Systems and was looking for the pros & cons of being on City Sewer vs Septic Tank.
Here is what I have so far:
Tank
-One less utility bill every month -Have to get it pumped every 10 years?
City Sewer
-One more utility bill every month -Come inspection time need to have the side sewer inspected
This is all I got so far, anyone else on here got more insight on this shitty situation?
Thanks in advance.

Septic is higher maintenance than you think. You'll have to learn a few new rules of living regarding what can and can't go down the drain. Being on septic is fine, but I prefer being on sewer personally.

your pumping is wrong....with 3 people soon 2....1-3yrs or 3-5 pending your tank size $200-300 to pump
pros in long run your saving money

Don't let it deter you from buying a good house, it's just a little more work/money than what you outlined in your OP.

City sewer, all the way down the shitter.
We have septic. Heavy rains and we have to watch water use. You never know what previous owner dumped down the drain. Our previous dumped stuff down there that should have been taken to recycling place...... Can't drive over drain field, and I do want a second driveway in my backyard so I can get to my shop. On Canyon road there's a lot of clay, read heavy rains. IF, an that's an IF, you have it pumped and the waste pumper people see a problem with your septic, it's their responsibility to report it to the county, which will make your life shitty. Our next house, in eastern WA, will more than likely be out in the boonies where if I have a problem, a wknd track hoe rental and a few yards of gravel will get me draining again without the county getting their nose in it and costing a second mortgage.

If you want rural or property, expect septic. I've been on a septic my entire life, pump every few years and golden.
To me, the rural life with my own well and septic far outweighs any pros that may come with a sewer.

Had septic in my first house, previous owners flushed qtips and baby wipes down into it. Quite the shit show, literally.
If you buy a house on septic, ask for it to be freshly pumped.

Just for some clarification, the place we are currently living has Septic and has never had a single issue in 8 years (I just fucking jinxed myself) with very little to no maintenance.
Some of the places we are looking at are in rural Pierce County and almost all of them are on Septic.

Have had many pumpers tell me a tank can go a long time without pumping if you take care of it. I love the fact that I will be ok when the world falls apart. Mine system has been zero issues. It is also a gravity system.

You got me. God damn auto correct. Pampers are better than huggies though.
