after children taken to a gun range for a field trip.

Teacher says some of the students had commented on how easy it would be to become a sharpshooter and wanted to introduce some reality into their discussion.

It also was intended to broaden their study of historical figures for whom guns were a large part of their historical roles.

The kids were allowed to hold UNLOADED guns to see how heavy they were and to handle bullets (cartridges?)

Some are calling for investigation:

"Department of Early Care and Learning said it received complaints from parents at the school and is investigating "to determine what children were involved in the field trip and whether it is within DECAL's jurisdiction to take appropriate actions."

Appropriate for what? Children who had signed permission slips?

So.... teaching with a license.

I would say the teacher is doing their job.

Whoever wants an investigation should be investigated.

Why didn't they do this sooner?

:plusone:
Firearm training should be close to mandatory at an early age- opt out, not opt in.
I can't read the original story though.
