I was driving a 2017 Camaro SS and was run into by an older lady in a VW. Looking at only the aftermath, it might be so so easy to blame a younger driver in a V8, or perhaps share the blame around (among completely innocent parties), but thanks to the dashcam, I can absolutely prove I was hit while I was driving in the right and in reasonable controlled manner. Because there is no chance of dispute, I was able to continue on with my day without worry and handle the interaction itself calmly.
Later this evening I saw the immediate aftermath of a Mustang GT and a Mini-van t-boning very hard at an intersection. And within minutes they were arguing about who hit who, which is actually irrelevant, what matters is what the lights were doing at that time, and without video.... I can easily imagine whomever is the innocent party of that altercation, will be sharing the blame/liability if they can't prove exactly what that light was when they passed through.
Peace of mind is worth the $60 one of these will cost you. And you don't need fancy GPS, or other crazy features the higher end ones have, so don't delay because you think perhaps only the $300 garmin ones are expensive. The inexpensive ones serve their purpose just fine.
Well, shit . . . I'm glad you're okay, and the camera recorded the facts!
Yeah, I've been thinking about getting one . . . .

The ones I have are about $20 each, so I put one in all my cars. Get into a wreck, and if the offender starts to mouth off. Just tell them to wave hi at the dash cam, and watch their attitude do a 180. You will have to pay more for ones that will actually work at night.

Am I crazy or did you go straight through a right turn only lane at the light? Then it looked like it became a diamond lane. Did you have a passenger?
Edit**Just opened the full sized video on my computer and saw the "Right turn only except buses and carpool." My mistake. Assuming you were carpool, that is.
For that matter, was she carpool?

Is there a dash cam that doesn't involve running a wire (via tearing in the headliner) ? Thanks.

Sign before intersection says "right lane must turn right, except bikes and carpools"

You don't tear headliners installing cameras.... (or dash lights, even full visor lightbars don't cut headliners)
Hiding wires is easy....

The camera kit that I bought definitely involved tearing into the headliner of my new WRX. Nowhere else to put the wires.

This is your career, yes? How about a TW DIY thread showing the methods of how you do it, along with tips, tricks and advice?

I love watching dash cam videos on Youtube!
I've been meaning to get around to installing both a front and rear camera. I fully believe it's an excellent investment.
I see a LOT of accidents that could be argued either way depending on, for instance, what color the light was or how fast the other party was going, etc.

Pretty easy, actually...
A pillar trim usually comes off via clips, although some are screwed on. Rarely do you actually need to remove it, just tuck the wire in behind the trim...
Ditto goes with the headliner, you can push the wire behind the lip of the headliner, which is enough to secure it for avg joe blow.
I can usually hide wires in less than 5 mins, if it's for a joe blow application. Commercial dash cams like police use larger wire bundles and multiple wires that take a little bit more finesse...

I was carpooling, my wife was with me. Other party also had a passenger.
