Shucks. I'd help, but I'll be away on the 15th. No, not to try and buy anything either. I'm pretty tapped out from a very busy and expensive summer.

I can tell you right now that selling guns is much harder over here. The number of people with disposable income is a lot lower. I knew it would be tougher with Obama out and Trump in, but man it's like pulling teeth to sell anything at market value.

Find a consignment shop in suburban W. WA that you trust and has a ton of foot traffic. I would probably be taking mine to Pinto's, I have no idea what they charge but dang they move guns like crazy.

J, please understand these are all in Spokane, WA.
You would need to go get them.
I cannot bring back 90 firearms in my car! :)
They are primarily Savage in lever action and bolt action, and Winchesters in bolt action, most pre-64.

I'll send you a cataloged list and photos and communicate with the widow the 10% commission fee.

I have to make sure what he had written down is still there. We'll be tagging them too.

Thanks for the offer. My good friend Paul who is FFL'd is tagging along with me to assist in cataloging and tagging, photographing.

For the record, I had another collection that I brought up to pintos and their offer wasn't all that stellar. About 70% of blue book value/gunbroker... and essentially they were using gunbroker to determine how much they'd pay for the guns as their source. (based on bids)

Rock Island Auction, if they have value. I'm cheap, and am 0-fer-everything on bids I've placed over the years. When I go back and review realized price, I shake my head.

Whats preventing the intra-transport of ~100 firearms....

Does one need a note from the Teacher or is there some 'limit law' that I'm presently unaware of.?

I'd sell the ones not so valuable local and bring the high dollar ones here to RevArms.

Oh man, Rev beat me to it. We also charge 10% for consignments :thumbsup2: .
Let us know if we can help.

Certain pre-64 Winchesters can be REALLY valuable. Field grade .30-06s, not so much, but there were a lot of chamberings and variations. Good luck!

Boy, that's a big no shit Huh?

Check out a Model 65 in 218 Bee.....~$4k

Problem with what the OP has is if youre not well versed in all old guns you could loose thousands in a sale.

Shit Marlin Levers are getting good money now a days...and they have some wierd options that Winchester 94's dont have that are extremely valuable

Buddy of mine bought a old Marlin 22lr a couple years ago that had a weird ghost ring flip factory front sight on it...ended up the sight was worth more than the gun.

something to beware of...

A member over on reddit was in a similar situation back around the time when Obama's ATF imposed stricter rules on individuals selling guns and blurred the line between "being in the business of" and not. He wanted to liquidate a collection of about 100 surplus rifles quickly. He spoke with the ATF and was told that it was advisable that he either have his own FFL or consign the guns with another FFL for such a large volume of sales in a short timeframe.

I would also suggest you talk to your CPA to make sure you keep good enough records (and possibly pay for an appraisal) in the event that the IRS decides to audit you and questions the large sum of cash that you receive from selling these guns.

If you go the consignment route, the gun store will issue a 1099

This can only mean one thing...the taxman wants his bite of the pie.

DJs Loan in Bothell specializes in old Winchesters. They might be worth a call.

I just did a 2 hour review of various sources and 2017 Blue Book of gun values based on the list his widow gave me.
Norm knew exactly what he had, and wrote SN down, along with approx values.
I've passed $70K in value with the first 50 Savage rifles and I'm not even into the Winchesters yet (only 15 Winchesters), one Savage with a 4 digit SN dating to 1895. This is assuming they're all in good or better condition. I have no idea what the condition is. Combine that with the fact he was an author for many Sports Afield, Outdoor life and 2 books (Amazon) on deer hunting...

We're going to recommend RIA or a national auction warehouse. Why pay 17% commission? Exposure. That bumps bidding up dramatically and almost 80% will sell in one bid rather than waiting over a year to sell in a local gun shop.

That sounds wise. Give the widow a couple options.
