Realizing sometimes the family gets stuck someplace (sporting event, outdoor event, etc) where we need some lightweight jackets with a hood that can withstand a light rain and are reusable. This is not going to be used to blaze a trail through the mountains for 6 months, but a thin shell to keep the family from being uncomfortable. Would prefer something that folds into the pocket and zips up for easy storage in the trunk of the car.

Y'all have any ideas? Not looking for something so thin that two evenings outside cause some random rip yet don't want to buy 4 jackets at REI that are quality but $$$$$

Easy. Frogg Toggs $20 for a whole suit. I keep one of these in my car for emergencies.

I have a couple. Bimart is where I purchased mine in the camping supplies in a two pack. Emergency ponchos.

Check Costco, I had to literally hold myself back from buying a few of their Kirkland Brand coats for 20$, they were super nice.

+1 I have multiple coats from Costco that fit your bill and if you don't like them the return policy is amazing.

If your not a member I also like the Frogg Togg jackets.

Galls has a few brands...here's one, on sale right now, $14.99-34.99...

It says rain resistant, they have others that fold up into their own pocket that are fully rain proof.

Poke around on the site, they also have a catalog they'll send you, and discounts via email.

Their prices aren't always the best, but on occasion, they'll beat Amazon.

I find what I want, then look online for best prices....

14.99 delivered in the green, medium size. They do run very large (I'm usually a large but the medium size was still very loose on me) so consider that if you order as well. Came in their own simple carrying bag as well. Will buy a few more the family and I'm good to go.

Yeah I agree. Costco will be carrying winter wear soon if not already.

Frogg Togg's. They have multiple different lines too.
