So who's into RC Boats?

I saw a guy running one of these FT012 boats at the lake and bought a couple for my 15 yo son and i to play with. Lots of fun, they are really fast for a 12" boat!
Brushless electric, 11.1V Lipo's with water cooled ESC and motor for 75 bucks.

Skip forward on the Videos to get to when the boats are running.

Then i had to step up to the FT011, a bit faster and much bigger. Same deal, water cooled ESC and Motor, 55KMH.

Then i had to step up one more time....

80KMH, too bad mine had a Hull defect and snapped the whole boat in half about 1 minute into it's Maiden voyage. icon_eek

Hooked a wave at the nose and should have just tumbled....instead, it snapped in half and the bow sank. I sent it back for a replacement, that was a bad Mofo.

Anyways, who plays with RC boats? It's just my current twitch but the boy and i are having fun with them. :thumbsup2:

I have a sailboat I haven't used for years. About three feet long with about a four foot mast.

The FT012 is 74 bucks and comes with a battery here.

Remember you will need more batteries. Size matters, they have to fit the Battery Box.

You want these....http://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pcs-Upgraded-H ... Swwo1XfMLu

Yeah, they come from China...but so do most electronics and batteries.

They are 2700MaH and will give almost 8 minutes of run time. The stock ones are 1800MaH

These work well too, and are shipped from the US.

The FT011 being bigger is cool. 14.8V 3s Lipo's and about 10-15 KMH faster.

I have a five foot long RC speed boat with a Zenoah 2 stroke engine.

Its been in my garage attic for 5 years collecting dust. I would love to sell it to someone that will use it.

I have some smaller rc jetboats. Tons of cars/trucks/buggies and crawlers.

Its time to thin the herd tho.

Slight thread hijack...

PM me if one of those cars you want to thin out is an RC10 T3. My nephew just broke the chassis on mine and finding a new one is a tough proposition.

Back on topic...

Those RC boats are seriously fast! Looks like some good fun!

Yeah after running life size full scale BBC jetboats, the RC just wasnt the thrill I envisioned.

The new brushless/lipo stuff is insane.

I would love to get the paper goods from ya. Next time I head north I will give ya a jingle.

I used to run a Losi XXT buggy and a GTX Gas truck back in the day. My buddy has a full track on his property....still does, close to Pacific Raceways.
Good times. :thumbsup2:
