Congressman Dave Reichert
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of the greatest state in the world’s greatest nation for nearly five decades. First as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves for six years, then in the King County Sheriff’s Office for 33 years, and most recently as a seven term Member of Congress. I am humbled to have been trusted by the people of Washington’s 8th District to be their voice in Congress; it is an honor I have not taken lightly. Each and every day, I have committed to serving the 8th District and our nation with the heart of a servant.
After spending time during the August work period with family and friends, reflecting on the past, discussing the future, and celebrating another birthday, I have decided this will be my last term and I will not run for reelection in November, 2018. It was not an easy decision but I believe it was the right one for my family and me. I have spent my entire career and devoted my life to service. I see this not just as a job, but as a calling - a calling I will not walk away from.

I'll drink to that! Good riddance!
However, this could signal something very bad, he may be preparing to vote on giving the demonrats amnesty for illegals, keeping Obamacare and secret government list gun bans.

That was in my head as well.
Since he isn't running again, he shouldn't be allowed to vote on anything until he leaves.
But nooooooo... he'll do a McLame on us.

Who will run in his place? Jeebus, I hope the GOP sponsors someone worth voting for. Reichert has been a closey Demorat for a long time and needs to go. I'm sure he'll be happy living in Seattle with his fellow Demorats.
Maybe Trump will endorse someone soon.

I never thought the celebrity status he received in the Green River case justified him being a good representative/politician. As a politician he did a mediocre job.
If we lose this seat it will be s significant imbalance.

Everyone chill.
The fears of losing this seat are fabricated by the democrats and the Seattle-run lib media outlets.
The district was REDRAWN in 2010 to exclude the east-side and instead went from Maple Valley over to Wenatchee. It got MORE conservative.
Anyone who tries telling you the district is "competitive" is trying to sell you something.

Reichert is a waste of flesh. I did see a hint that Dino Rossi may be a contender for the seat and they also hinted that Reichert may look at gubnor. All supposition to keep things stirred yup I'm sure.

Both sides are already sending out emails to elicit contributions....
Reichert was a turd when he was Sheriff, and a two-faced turd as an elected official.
I hope he goes away, but generally, their egos don't allow it, and a squad of coat-tail dwelling 'yes-men and women' are probably preening him for bigger aspirations.

He stopped giving town halls because he knew the small amount of democrats in his hated him and would regardless, and he knew his base would hate him for turning on them over funding Obama's amnesty for illegal aliens, keeping Obamacare, raising the debt ceiling, funding planned parenthood, etc.
