It's hard to find someone I agree with 100%, but Shapiro is pretty close.

Given that the ATF was caught illegally holding onto those check records longer than statutes allow and no one was fired and no one was prosecuted when that illegal database was found...

Relying on sympathetic or diligent administrations not to abuse illegal resources is a bad strategy. Better to simply remove those resources and never fund them again.

We should shutter the ATF and sell off their buildings and assets.

Where do you see that Ben is for UBC's? I've followed him a long time and don't remember hearing him say that he's in favor for them because UBC = control.

He uses UBC to point out how ineffective the government is.

I was relying on his statement to Piers Morgan you can see in the video clip on the previous page. That does seem to conflict with the tweets you posted above. Interesting. Thanks for the info.

That's always been my impression, it's consistent with his other views on government being bad at most things (and therefore should be minimally involved with your life).

In his statements, Ben says that we should calibrate laws to keep guns out of the hands of bad people and keep guns in the hands of good people. I guess that kind of screams UBC's and "common sense gun laws". He seems a little inconsistent with what he said to Piers and his tweets, although I'm willing to give him leeway since he was trying to find a little middle ground with Piers after insulting him for "standing on the graves of the children who died in Sandy Hook" lol.

Shapiro was a big anti-Trumper in the election, but overall a principled conservative. One of my regular sources of information. He thinks things out instead of just reacting.

Ok, Shapiro is officially a nut. In the above tweets he says UBCs are bad, but in this video clip he says UBCs are good. You can see it at time index: 8:20.


He also calls AR-15s "assault weapons" and "assault rifles" dozens of times and then admits he knows the difference between semi auto and full auto....

This guy is an idiot and either doesn't understand firearms as well as he pretends or he's a flip-flopping "Butter."

At 8:20 in the video he explicitly says "everyone" must go through a background check.
He's also OK with government databases of gun owners. Seems to conflict with those tweets again.

It seems like is randomly Shapiro anti-gun one minute, and then contradicting his own positions the next minute. He's rapid-fire flip-flopping.

I'd say Ben's having been one of the leading never-Trumpers actually enhances his principled conservative bona fides. His loyalty is to the ideas of conservatism rather than a man or a political party.

Don't you think it's a little absurd to declare an individual is a "nut" and an "idiot" because he's not as immersed in the gun culture as you and your friends? This guy runs the most listened to conservative podcast in the country and actively defends the 2nd amendment any chance he gets. So what if he's using the language of the host in this debate? His time was limited and rather than eat it up having the "Assault Rifle vs. Armalite Rifle" semantics discussion, he instead used it to make points that mattered.
Not everyone is all-guns-all-the-time. Let's just be thankful that we have intelligent, articulate people like Ben Shapiro out there taking a stand for our side.
