It was also the 10+ minutes of him constantly saying "assault weapon," "assault rifle" and then explaining in detail that he'd be OK not only with UBCs but a huge government database of ALL owners just as long as newspapers couldn't get their hands on it. Shapiro's main strength is his ability to eloquently communicate, and across the span of that lengthy interview he spelled out in great detail the harm against 2A that he'd be fine with. Who cares. You are picking apart semantics

I'm going to type out 3 paragraphs and wax eloquently about a similar story in my life. Pm me if you figured it out.

UBCs+government database that's ok as long as "newspapers don't get it" is not semantics, it's a recipe for Katrina all over again, this time on a national scale. Hillary said she wanted to consider an Aussie style national "turn in" confiscation.
It's so ironic that Shapiro defends his desire for semi auto rfiles by saying he fears a government tyranny in the next 50 years but then he wants to specifically allow something that would enable the government to take away his guns whenever they wanted to. Then, he changes his position depending on his audience.
Stylistically I've seen this pattern with him before, he prides himself on being a dispassionate policy-wonk and because he is so willing to debate the merits of any policy he goes overboard and likely in an attempt to appear "moderate" he "compromises" on positions that he later contradicts. I was willing to overlook his nasal voice and petulant mannerisms when he was ideologically consistent, now that he's throwing 2A under the bus when it suits him I am very lukewarm on him. I'd rather spend my time listening to Mark Levin.
Don't get me wrong, Shapiro's written some great stuff, and some of his arguments are well made, but the guy himself is too changeable to lionize as a conservative chanpion the way he's being marketed.
