Hopefully, he avoids charges and wins the inevitable civil suit. It's so sad, because the perpetrator was just a good kid, turning his life around.

Unfortunately, given how much RINO King County prosecutor, Mr. 594-Danny Sattberberg, hates gun owners and how much he loves violent criminals, the homeowner may well get charged. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 08656.html

Far be it from be to armchair quarterback this man's defense of his own home and children, but I do have to wonder if lethal force was justified, based upon the information provided in the story. Without knowing whether the 2 burglars were armed, or made any threatening comments or gestures, it does beg the question...should he have shot first and asked questions later, or vice versa?

Watching the coverage of this story and seeing the dipshit statements from LEOs and media figures it has made me sick that we've allowed the 2nd major part of the self-defense RCW to be effectively erased. https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9A.16.050Quote: 9A.16.040 << 9A.16.050 >> 9A.16.060
RCW 9A.16.050 Homicide—By other person—When justifiable. Homicide is also justifiable when committed either: (1) In the lawful defense of the slayer, or his or her husband, wife, parent, child, brother, or sister, or of any other person in his or her presence or company, when there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design on the part of the person slain to commit a felony or to do some great personal injury to the slayer or to any such person, and there is imminent danger of such design being accomplished; or (2) In the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, in his or her presence, or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which he or she is.

Good shoot. Robbery in progress is a felony along with conspiracy.

What would a reasonable person do when confronted at night with a person snooping outside of their children's window?
Is there a disparity of force between the adult outside and the children inside?

Lethal force to remove the 'threat' legal only after every other option has failed....
Threat not Burglar.
Dad better been yelling his ass off.....not legal to dry gulch.

it was during the day. and there were options. if your kids were in the room you start shooting when they aren't coming in just checking the window? Someone's going to jail.

Hopefully he doesn't get charged. The news on Q13 was pretty good about their reporting. The anchorman was giving a good explanation about how you're able to shoot someone if they are a threat.
This was in my neighborhood. Less than half a mile from my house.

Personally I really have no desire whatsoever to shoot anybody, not even a burglar. I would put my boot in their ass, yes. I would only shoot once I felt my life or the life of my loved ones were in imminent danger.
One of the suspects ran. I wonder if the dead suspect would've done the same given the chance?
Also, just because it may (not saying it was) be legal to shoot someone, doesn't mean it's always the right thing to do.
I'm gonna keep my opinion neutral on this one for lack of more information.

Maybe HIS boot will wind up in YOUR ass, and from there who knows how it will end. I don't have any problem with homeowners engaging in an "unfair fight" with those who invade their homes.
