As a surveyor who understands the math regarding correcting for the curvature of the earth, seeing stuff like this just hurts my head.
Simply sitting on the beach and watching a ship approach or leave over the horizon should be enough to convince most people that the earth is curved, but whatever. If you go to the plains states, you can see the earth curve away from you in all directions. Reading about Eratosthenes experiment should be enough to convince anyone else. And it was done around 240 BC! |
