so instead of grabbing a woman's ass one must now say: "Hello stranger! May I have some pussy, please? "

First, let me just say that I'm not okay with rape or unwanted touching, or truly inappropriate behavior. Let all those bastards who've done those things get called out, and face the music. I have no issues with that.
However, two aspects of this "trend" are bothering me:
1) Simple allegations seem to be enough to convict people in the public court of opinion. For example, in one of the articles above, it says that Roy Moore was accused today of doing something inappropriate 38 years ago. And today, THE SAME DAY, folks like John McCain are saying that he needs to step aside. WTF? OK, I understand that he'll probably never actually get tried in a real court for this alleged misdeed, but can't we wait for some actual facts??
2) Things that I consider to be normal courtship rituals or simply tasteless comments have suddenly become crimes or near-crimes. I worry that we're getting so PC that soon you won't be able to flirt . . . I guess we'll all just need to have arranged marriages.
For example, I heard a story on NPR the other day. A woman went to a conference, and after one of the speeches she approached the speaker to talk to him. He turned to her and said, "Would you like to come to my hotel room tonight?". She was very upset by this, and some years later she was able to prevent him from getting an executive job at her company (Citibank, I think?). So . . . I get it, the guy was a tasteless douche, but is that really "inappropriate" behavior that merits punishment?
I dunno, it just feels like it's being taken too far in some cases.
What do you want? A freaking gynecologist's report? Multiple women, including the girl's mother, went on record with this accusation. Even Roy Moore, he of the "Put the Ten Commandments EVERYWHERE" movement, can't bring himself to say that he didn't do it, he can't even say that he didn't date "high school girls" in his 30's and 40's. He can only say that "these allegations are false" which is NOT the same as saying "I did not intoxicate and finger fuck a 14 year old girl." Every woman, at some point in her life, deals with some form of sexual harassment. It's a thing. Small--like a pat on the ass or being addressed as "honey" by a co-worker--or large, it's a thing, and we all deal in different ways. I deal by ignoring it. Also with some hard stares. Other women may be different. For a group of men to sit around and judge women smacks of a) lack of sex and b) misogyny.

Did I get that right?

Jen, my point wasn't that Roy did or did not do it -- I honestly have no idea. My point was about people jumping to conclusions based on just an accusation, and in this case people saying that he should drop out of the race because of one woman's accusation. Now, a couple of days later, there are more accusers . . . but when we were talking about it, there was one accuser. glockgirl wrote: He can only say that "these allegations are false" which is NOT the same as saying "I did not intoxicate and finger fuck a 14 year old girl." If the allegation is that he intoxicated and finger-fucked a 14-year-old girl . . . then yes, that's the same thing. So Jen, let's go with the Roy Moore example. Based on what you now know (a few(?) accusers, no gynecologist's report), what do you think should be done with him? Nothing, pulled from the Senate race, jailed . . . what? How much evidence is needed, for which punishment?

Right?
The thing that bothers me the most is that it took 38 freaking years to surface.
All the while this Judge Moore has been climbing the political ladder.
Not like he hasn't been in public view until three weeks ago..............

So if a "crime" is 38 years old, it didn't happen?

Everyone has a risk vs. Reward calculation. It changes over time. Admitting you were a victim is not risk-free.

Another manly icon falls, and with video proof. Dan Aykroyd has been accused of calling a female co-star an ignorant slut. One of my heroes... I am a broken man.
