Not my responsibility to save idiots from themselves. You're only making the problem worse.

Quote:
TW, you know damn well that there's no such thing as an "accidental shooting". Someone did or didn't do X, and that led to Y, which led to a dead (....)

I can quote a TON of cops who 'accidentally shot' someone, and suffered zero consequences.... So, which is it? Intentionally killing compliant men in custody, or a slipped finger?

Quote:
You want to bring your ad hominem attacks on myself and my profession--my Master's in Public Health, even--bring it. Whatever turns your crank in your van down by the river, right?

You mad bro?

No one said shit about nurses....You feeling guilty about enabling people to continue to use drugs, which leads to more crime and homelessness?

Your tax dollars go to saving people who choose to be criminals, whilst those that need needles for things like insulin have to pay for it themselves.

Free Narcan? Sure! Free Insulin? Nope, you're gonna die.

and if you really REALLY REALLY wanna push the 'omgz, for the chyldrynz!' rhetoric....

Occasional dead kids are part of the price you pay for the protection against the 100s of millions that could be lost to a tyrannical gov't.

Yup. Dead kids are just the price of doing business.

I eagerly await your outrage... :wink05:

Making sure that firearms do not fall into the hands of children isn't a public health issue? TW, you know damn well that there's no such thing as an "accidental shooting". Someone did or didn't do X, and that led to Y, which led to a dead toddler. So yah, it's a public health issue.

You want to bring your ad hominem attacks on myself and my profession--my Master's in Public Health, even--bring it. Whatever turns your crank in your van down by the river, right?

As much as I disagree with and shake my head at TW's near constant diatribes railing police, I think his analogy is perfect. If controlling access is a public "health" issue similar to preventing the spread of disease among criminals addicted to illegal drugs then shouldn't they be giving out free safes? And not only that, they need to provide as many as I need to house all of my firearms.

Fight lies with facts.

Gun stores still have their 1st Amendment rights. They can post much larger signs that say:

Quote:
"THE BELOW (or above) SIGN DOES NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT:

1. Have a past history of violence.
2. Deal in illicit substances.
3. Have a history of alcohol abuse.
4. Are involved in gang activity.

All activities that have a much stronger correlation to violence than gun ownership according to studies."

Another they can post in bigger font above the signs:

Quote:
STATES WITH MORE GUNS ARE STATISTICALLY SAFER*

*There's no correlation between gun ownership rates and gun murder actually, but this is technically true.

(You are more likely to be shot with a gun in CA than in WA for example, according to CDC and FBI numbers from 2010).

Gun Ownership Rates:
CA guns per capita: 20.1% (Very strong gun control)
WA guns per capita: 27.7% (Relatively low gun control, and about 30% more firearms per person than CA)

Violence:
CA gun murders per capita: 3.4
WA gun murders per capita: 1.4

You are 2.42 times more likely to be murdered with a gun in a state with very strong gun control, even though we have 30% more firearms per person.

I'd be OK with a store posting a sign that said, "THIS SHIT WILL DEFINITELY KILL YOU!" It shuts the pols up and it's so ridiculous that everyone else can just laugh as they stroll past.

Don't cigarette packs have a warning that says, "Die, fucker!" or something similar? Doesn't seem to have much effect on sales but someone sleeps better at night knowing they got their way.

In Europe, I think that's almost exactly what they say. :rofl9:

I think the homeless that hang out around the King County building have the right idea. They piss on the walls and shit on the steps. They're expressing themselves in a way we only think of.
