Ever since I was a kid I've realized that a) the Blue Angels is a great recruiting tool for Naval Air; b} all flying these pilots do is not a waste. Just more training hours, all the while they are entertaining the taxpayers.
Apparently any time people enjoy themselves while it's costing the government money, it's a terrible waste.
To me, providing Secret Service protection to the Clinton family is a real waste. Thank you for typing this, as I am too lazy. Everything the Blues Angles do (I think) is required by all pilots in the Navy. Just like you said, "just more training". The only plane I really complain about is the Harrier. Had one 'freeze' overhead one time. Jeezus they are loud. Yes they are loud. But remember, they will either move to show off elsewhere on the course or will run out of fuel and have to land. In other words, the noise is only temporary (unlike stupidity in "Libertards" which is forever).

The power/fuel required to "hover" for a Harrier is ENORMOUS. They will not hover for long. Even though the Harrier is "British" it is still the sound of freedom (now that they got with the program ).

They were in the black for spending. Surplus state spending was spoken about on the evening local news. We moved out of King County intentionally because of the taxes and the politics in 1997. Raised our kids in a more conservative unincorporated Pierce county. And they turned out to be all right. Times....they are a changin'....not for the better. Thanks for this. Makes me feel good with my decision of going unincorporated Snohomish. But yes I agree, times are changing and not coming back.

Love Seafair weekend. Absolutely love the Blue Angels, but the other planes--especially Fat Albert and the A-10 Warthogs--send me and the boys shrieking outside in excitement. Nothing brings out the eight-year-old version of Jennifer faster than the sound of those engines.
I tend to think that the whiners are those who didn't grow up here and don't understand how Seafair, and the Angels, are a part of the societal fabric.

I tend to think that the whiners are those who didn't grow up .......... II think it was better in fewer words. Its always cool to see your kids interested in awesome flying machines...even if they're weapons of war. eg; John Lennon (an adult) wrote both Imagine and Happiness is a Warm Gun.

Same here --- always listening for the sounds of unfamiliar engines.... makes me stop everything when I see the chinooks, osprey, A10s.... Still something special when you hear the sound of the pistons in the B17 and P51 go by.... I think it was last year when a P38 was screaming around too! That was awesome to see. Planning on spending most of the afternoons out in the yard hoping to catch a glimpse... Bring on the sounds of FREEDOM!

During the Thursday practice I got my petite self rumbling at mach speed, out the back slider to watch the Blues fly over the house. I really wish the screen had been open at the time. At least I was partially dressed this year and it was the back yard.... Took the boat out yesterday on the big lake...solo pilot lit afterburner directly overhead for max performance climb.....and the crowd went wild! Too much fun saluting the Navy and other Armed Forces. Edit. They should be going over again pretty soon!

This. The USN should tell Seattle to eff off and have a free air show at McChord.

I don't associate the word "triggered" with our veterans. Thank you. That word should only be associated with Socialist scum and Soyboys. Only thing that noise would make me do is say 'Murica, Fuck Ya!

I can remember watching the Angels from a very young age (both my parents were USN). I used to take my old sailboat out onto Lake Washington to watch them. We watched them from afar yesterday, we went out crabbing at Magnolia, but still got to watch a fair part of the show.
As far as being "triggered", well, I'm not a combat veteran, so I have no idea. However, I've never known a combat veteran who was "triggered", but possibly I've led a sheltered life, dunno. But I spent a bunch of time in the USN with Viet Nam vets, lived on Guam during the war when I was a kid, my brother was in Desert Storm, and I can't imagine anyone that I know not wanting to go see the show because they might be hurt or injured in some way. Whiny kids not wanting to go notwithstanding (friend's kids). I suspect it's manufactured outrage because they don't like it, not because anyone has actually complained about it.

What the ...? What kind of stick in the mud are these people? Maybe they'd just rather sit around sipping wine & munching cheese or whatever the hell those city folk do. http://mynorthwest.com/1072281/unpopula ... ue-angels/Bring back the Whidbey Air Show and send the Angels up there where they're welcome. (air shows are always way better on military installations anyways because no safety envelopes!)
