I'm 6' 2" and probably almost 300lbs (don't own a scale) but working on losing weight Just bought a house with about 10 acres of dirtbike trails. What's a good bike for a big guy? And when is the best time of year to buy? I'm not looking to buy tomorrow, but in the next year or so. Looking at either a 250 or 400cc range. $3k max budget so definitely used.

You'll hurt yourself. Best ride the easy Chair, it's safer.

At 3k theres plenty to afford. Fall and winter months when the squids figure out they dont like riding in the cold.

Look no further than a DRZ 400. They can be had in many configurations. Even street legal.

I too ride a DRZ400s. Mine is a 2016 but there were NO changes since 2002 so don't be afraid to buy an older one if the price is right. The "s" models prior to 2002 had poor, nonadjustable suspension. The "E" model is dirt only and has a better cam and higher compression. The "K" model is the same with a Kick start. The "S" model is street legal. "SM" is the supermoto with 17" wheels. I'm 6'3", 200lbs and ride it comfortably but plan to change for higher bars.

From my math an S can be bought and converted to a supermotard way cheaper than buying one. Plus you can swap it back and forth.

I rode a Honda XR-400 for years. Great torque and a semi smooth ride...

+1 for the DRZ-400 very reliable ride to begin with, easy to work on, lots of after market support, etc.
