Federal level - Gun Issues:
How many of you would listen to the idea of a new system of "background checks" that replaced NFA and the Current background check system with a Highly advanced Blockchain based Ledger, where you don't know much about the purchaser, only the transaction. BUT in order to make a transaction you must first a) Sign up for a wallet, prove you are a citizen, and you are who you are, complete a Background check, and prove that you are not a bad guy. You get a block-chain token. Then you can meet with whomever you want.... dealer, or local dude and buy a Firearm... NFA or not, including a silencer. Some guns could have special classifications that would require special tokens.
Once the transaction happens, you trade the token for the gun, and the liability of the gun transfers with it. The original owner proves that he sold the gun in good faith and the government bears the responsibility for the background check. In the event that a crime was committed, authorities can request that the ledger be checked for that transaction... but transaction are only traceable to weapons, NOT persons. Meaning you don't have databases on individuals, just items. In effect, you can find out who owns a gun, but not what guns a person owns.
If you are wondering, its effectively the same thing now.
In return we dissolve the NFA completely, no taxes... and preemption on these punitive state fees that are meant to prevent the poor from practicing thier constitutional freedoms. We would also want the Wallet to have a token capacity for Concealed carry that is good in all 50 states.
Now to implement something like that you would want to get NRA and the GOA to buy off on it, and at least some level of acceptance from gun-control people. I don't expect much from them, but who knows...
And It would need someone who actually knows guns and block-chain tech... But, I can do that.
State Level - Taxes:
Replace B&O with a Business Revenue Tax
B&O in this state is extremely high for small business, and its meaningless for large corporations. This unduly harms the small business owner, while leaving us with very little state revenue benefits from large corporations.
While democrats love this arrangement, because thier lobbyist and donors pay them to keep it this way, its one of the reasons our gas tax, property tax, sales tax, and other associated fees have not seems to meet the needs of growth in the areas where these major companies operate. If the Corporations want to grow with he state then they need to help the state grow.
Republicans don't like to tax business anywhere, but seldom want to consider the option of shutting down services to business, we need to make sure we can grow our infrastructure to grow our state, so revenue is going to need to happen.
Equally we need to encourage small businesses not punish them, buy reconsidering the way we tax business in this state we would inventive the small business sector, while growing revenue, in particular we would grow revenue from the places where most of the cost is originated.
See these are two examples of middle of the road concepts, both sides find something they like, and something they dislike.... its a compromise. Great post and interesting idea. There are some potential issues with the registration aspects of this but it might also take the hassle out of the FFL's keeping there binders of paperwork as well. As a small business even your revenue idea needs some help. Problem is where the revenue comes from. Taxes should be on the profit I make as a business not how many widgets I sell. If I buy a widget for resale and can only get 3% profit from the actual sale. I can see a good chunk of that gobbled up by the B&O or revenue tax. Since we are taxed roughly 1% of the revenue. State taxes should be based on our schedule C reported income, Corparate return or whatever.

Kinda hoping that antifa shows up at sturgis, this year... Somebody should encourage the proud boys to make an announced appearance there... (I recall seeing blacks, hispanics, and asians in the proud boys group. I am not convinced they are white supremacists. But since antifa is convinced...)
