Did Halle Berry ever play Franklin? No. The singer, who died Thursday from pancreatic cancer, really wanted Berry to take the role in a film version of her memoir, however. |

I actually met her once, a long time ago. She had a truly magnificent voice and a personality to go along with it. I've listened to music from a lot of the old Gospel singers...her father (Rev. C.L. Franklin), Shirley Caesar, Mahalia Jackson...her voice and delivery surpassed them all.
Today, we are truly diminished. RIP, Aretha. _________________ I hunt the things that go bump in the night.... |

little known fact, she got her big break by Hugh Hefner, he hired her to perform at his Playboy Club in Chicago. She said it was the first time she was allowed to walk in the front door of a club
