My 88 year old former neighbour Viola refused to "waste" money on garden tools and would be out in my yard at the old house digging up whatever with a freaking steak knife. Now, she had dementia, and was very hard of hearing (HOH), and would argue a bit when I would ask her to please not stab my yard, but still. She meant no harm. I'd just talk with her a bit and eventually take the knife.

I get it. This seems to be a good Tase in everyone's book but mine. Lots of older folks feel an obligation to look after community (or perceived community) grounds. H-ll, I look after community grounds and I'm not an old person. Yet. This woman seems like Viola--well intentioned, HOH, and toss in the no English part, probably very confused.
