Yes, I'm sorry but I must be a bit critical...
When you call one of the big hardware stores...and the people answering do not even know what a heat pump is, ESPECIALLY after seeing them on the company's website....yes, the dumb has broken the cat...and the dog, and the hamster, and the pet mini pig, etc., etc.
Sadly, I have an excellent resource to turn to....my son is an HVAC wizard, can built anything from small window units to the huge units on industrial buildings. He's also an electrician and can build and repair generators of all sizes. He actually runs an HVAC/Generator repair shop...
...in Okinawa...
...for the Marine Corps.
So, since I can't drop some coin in my son's pocket, someone give me some help. I need to have a heat pump replaced. I got one estimate that gave me a low end figure of $6300, and a high end of $7500 for replacement of the pump, inside condenser/heater coils and control. (Remember the post about the shotgun? I take it all back...because I feel like someone is lining me up for a dry cracking with a splintery used cedar log....) I don't mind paying for a good install, since I have neither the tools nor the knowledge to do it myself. However...about $1800 to $2000 for the cost of the unit itself, and the rest for LABOR? BEFORE TAX?
Hm. Let me think about that for a minute...
Maybe not.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a company or individual that does good work in this field, where I won't get pregnant after the transaction? (Or, at least if I do, will they leave a chocolate on the pillow and leave a towel behind?)
