Apparently all stores are pretty much empty of all supplies - Bread, water, Gatorade, etc. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/08/22/us/hurricane-lane-hawaii-wxc/index.htmlIn before 'Trump hates islanders because they're brown' when ships are sent to help bring supplies but 'are taking too long'....

Why do people wait to prepare when you are in a known hurricane area? Gee Wally every year we get a hurricane around Aug/Sept why do we wait till the last minute when hurricane Lumpy comes. Awe Beaver you're just being silly.

I was on Maui during the last earthquake. Hotel was nuts. Power was out. Went to the grocery store to see about getting some food. It was like a 1960s horror filick. People were coming out with carts full of bottled water and toilet paper. Safeway had a generator going with minimal lighting and the registers running.
It was sort of surreal.

first thing i said when the old man announced that he's moving to HI: are you freaking nuts? why would you want to live on a VOLCANO? he was like: meh, ain't nothing gonna happen... uh huh... he's got a couple of friends in Leilani Estates area, one had their house burned by the lava, they were ordered to leave in the middle of the night, only took what they could carry in their hands... the other friends house got spared, lava stopped 3 or 4 houses away...

I'm not a doomsday prepper, I'm realistic that something can happen. Which reminds me I need to get another case of water. My building my not get touched by a tornado, but power lines will get torn out (I am all electric). I have solar, gas/propane stoves, and ways to filter water. A lack of power could effect water pump stations.

Last one was 92. How prepared are you for a tornado since you moved to Tornado alley? Dug that bunker yet?

Thrive food, stoves, water filtration, and solar. 100w system with TW approved twin 6v GC batteries. (Guns, and ammo to keep what mine is mine)

You must have been typing right before me Best way to prepare for a tornado is to not live near where they happen.

That's why I moved out here to get away from 9.0 on the richter scale. Last one in Lawton was 2013, and was a whopping EF0. https://www.weather.gov/oun/tornadodata-city-ok-lawton

Having been through a couple hurricanes (near misses really, but 60+ MPH sustained with 100 MPH gusts) and tornadoes..
FUCK tornadoes...
Nothing like watching a 'storm rated' sliding glass door bow in and out....as your neighbors 100 yr old tree is ripped from the roots, falls, and barely misses your house.
Fuck.That.
I'll take power out for 2 weeks in a heartbeat over a tornado.
HI is a little different though... I think storm surge/flooding are gonna be the biggest issue. The east coast hurricanes most damage was from fallen trees/downed power lines...

Why would they need to prepare, everything they need is at the stores! If not, the govt will surely supply it? Lolol i know people around here are in for a rude fucking awakening if the earthquake hits in our lifetime. LololoLololol How does the saying goes about half the population would starve after a month if all the stores closed?

During snowmageddon the stores were cleaned out in 2-3 days.
