I didn't see an option for a Caucasian Shepherd (provides excellent protection against wolves btw), so I voted for one of them hotdogs.
With someone's girlfriend for size:
Since the point is the size of the dog, the pic would be more respectable if she were sitting with the dog, instead of 3 to 6 feet away, to make the dog appear to be that much bigger.
I picked that picture because of its clarity and having elements related to this thread. There are plenty of pictures on Google that show how big this horse gets. Don't be a party pooper.

Party pooper. Bwahahaha! Been a long time since I was called that. Thank you for the nostalgia.
As for the pictures... Just because one shows the size better, doesn't make the other not an attempt at fakery.

No kidding, the trickery folks pick horse-racing jockey type of people for the comparison shots sometimes. Tom Thumb!
Some of the beautiful beasts do get monstrously huge. Our bitch is about 250 pounds, long shaggy dark hair and a permanent snarl. Scares the bejeesus out of people who come to visit. I try to stand between the Dread Princess and any guests so I'll get torn to shreds first and the guests will have time to get to their car.
The dog though, she's only about 140 pounds. Sweet and warm and loving as mother's fresh apple pie.

I know Tera wants to go to Maui... Well, when you have a dog, travelling is very difficult, and adds a much larger layer to the already complex trip planning.
Tell her you have been thinking of doing some spontaneous travel, using some miles when good deals come up etc and that you would prefer to take her on a trip than worry about Ol' Danny (it's a good dog name) at home.

When someone says you should exercise/walk your dog daily, that's not just some light kindly advice. Even as Chancho approaches 15 years old (he's OLD), he can do two walks a day. Humans are lazy......that's why we invent so many tools, and ideas.......
What's your dog's name? カンチョ― ??!!

quantsuff is on the money about spending time with them when picking one out. The one we adopted last month we got to spend the better part of the day with before we agreed to adopt him and then we brought our dog to meet him the next day and let them play for part of the day. We could hav not got a better choice. As others have said they do get spendy last month between rushing our Shih Tzu to the vet ER and it spending the night and dieing as well as creamation then getting our other dog fixed and adopting an a 3rd dog and all medical it needed we spent just over $2250 and that is not including food. However the payoff is something else when you have a bad day they make you forget about anything else.

I am not suggesting that caring for a savage beast like this is for everyone.
Sometimes I am at my wits end, as the beast is smart and an escape artist.
You need to set aside some cash for unplanned veterinary bills. For example, right after this pic was snapped, the beast hugged the Caucasian Shepherd so hard that the dog started limping.

If it involves the anus, you are always quick on the point.
