a New York firearms dealer has been shut down... for being burglarized seven times in eleven years.

Seems the building isn't secure enough for the local deputies and politicos and as a target for burglary poses a threat to the public.

So, along with penalizing the FFL (which they state is not their intent) there is talk about new regulations to ensure FFL's can "adequately" secure all firearms and ammunition within the premises.

whatever we do, let's not increase the penalties for people stealing guns.....I think the penalty ought to be the loss of your dominant hand, second offense you lose your head

Many CA cities have special requirements for security at FFL locations, including video, concrete barriers, etc. Some comply, some close.

I think Wa has tighter regulations on POT GROW security than GunShops.

I don't see any thing wrong with this. Leaving a pane of glass between your guns and the scum of the earth is STUPID. Get robbed and see how your insurance treats you. You will think the state is pleasant compared to your new ins rates.

This is like the guy that leaves his car unlocked with the keys in it and complains about it getting stolen. You can tell the same guy, maybe you should park out in the open, lock your rig, put your Ipad and GPS in the glovebox etc. Then he will respond, "Thats what insurance is for".

I don't like thieves, but dammit don't bait them, use some common sense and LOCK SHIT UP.

While I understand your point and happen to agree here's the biggest problem with it.
How about law enforcement get up off their collective rear ends and nail these thugs. And make the penalty hurt.
Notice i said law enforcement not police. Though even the police are about useless these days for such small crimes. The change really needs to come up and down the and that includes the silly legislature that adds more and more nonsensical laws.
It used to be the police actually pulled over speeding cars, reckless drivers, and those going to slow or traveling in the fast lane. Rarely if ever do you see someone pulled over these days. Why? Well one of the biggest problems is all the stupid paperwork and court crap the officers have to go through to write a simple ticket.
Two, when the police arrest a thief its highly likely its going to be catch and release and catch and release, and ....
This is one place where I think the Mosaic law got it correct. Thief caught in the act and thief gets to pay back 7 times. If he can't then gets sold into slavery until he does. Full and complete restitution. If that mean toss into the slammer and made to work for his food and board and any extra goes to paying off the vitcims. Great. Until they are paid off NO extras in the commissary, store or other perks in prison. Society shouldn't have to pay for these clowns. Don't want to work, fine no food for you.
You stung out on drugs, fine forced cold turkey rehab. You miserable tough. You decide to be a scourge on the rest of us to support your drug habit. Fine there are consequences.

It's about time there are real consequences. Time to streamline and make prison a place you don't want to be instead of a controlled luxury resort. There should be no frills if it doesn't have to do with safety. Don't have to be cruel but those prisoners don't need all the perks they get either.

Time for true Tort and criminal reform.
