I think he REALLY started to lose it during his run for President. Despite his leanings, he had NO fight. Zero. Zip, just rolled over in the headlights. That should have been the end for him. Instead of retiring or getting a spine, he became a vindictive nasty liberal.

I rarely follow the elections, but I did see a few of his rallies or town hall meetings... The few that I saw were embarrassing in smarminess and poor engagement skills. It was like watching WWE when you wanted to see collegiate wrestling.

I am generally embarrassed by politicians in general. He stood out.

He was usually reelected due to voter ignorance, voter sympathy due to his POW status, and the senile elderly population. McCain was the classic turncoat and never actually did anything positive for the people of AZ or the country.

^^ YES. He single handedly lost the GOP that election and spun this country into turmoil by causing the big O to gain office. One of the things that really stood out for me is him not making eye contact with O during debates, and ten refusing to shake his hand. I knew if he could not be a pro in that arena, there was no way he could negotiate or be successful as a politician behind closed doors or in meetings with other dignitaries.

Then he turn-coated on the GOP and his constituents by rolling and following the Democratic party line. It should really tell people something when on my FB feed I see all my hardcore Democratic school mates singing his praises and posting about the loss of a great one. Let that sink in that the Libtards are all pretty upset about his passing.

Condolences to his family, but I'm glad he no longer wields power or votes in Congress.

RIP...you were a great war hero, but a terrible Congressman.

^^^^this^^^^ A hero yes, RIP but a terrible politician.

Don't you watch the news?

I'll add my two cents and echo a great many of you.
My condolences to the family. It's never easy to lose your Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa, etc....
I can respect him as a human being while disagreeing with his wishy washy stands.

He will be remembered much like John Kerry for standing on his somewhat checked war record and using it to his full ability.
He will be remembered for why we still have that abortion called Obamacare (Remember he cast the deciding vote in a very pompous way. Not because he thought to stand on any principal but as a way to stick to the current President.)
He will remembered for giving us the gang of 7 or 8 that meant most of Bushes Judges would not get confirmed. for not bothering to particapte in the Senate for 8 months yet countinuing to speak out against Trump. for giving us the McCain Fiengold mess which has meant that we the little people can't contribute but boy can those lobbying firms can.
The list could go on and on....

Either way he is standing before his maker and we can only hope he had a bit more than what seems like a lot of wood, hay and stubble.

Not to mention the countless working people's lives damaged by McCain's support, as a Senator, for brutal neoliberal social and economic policies in the United States. Our solidarity belongs with the millions of families suffering under such policies here & abroad.

That is a "sanitized" version of the story.
A different story was told by those who were there and survived.

Either way.....RIP Mr. McCain.
I hope judgement day treats you fairly.
