You want to redefine the known definition of terms and then argue whether they're still applicable?

You can characterize it that way if you desire. I have no desire either way. People said they thought he was a hero, explained why, and you then redefined hero. Now you're asking what made him great, and I'm just wondering if you will then redefine that, too. I love your inquiring mind...it just harkens me back to philosophy classes... The first thing one had to do, was define your terms. Otherwise, there was no way to know if you were arguing the same position. I guess I'm just saying, if you're going to ask why he was great, and your definition is different, perhaps define the term first. Not trying to be argumentative...

JFC. No, that is not at all how it happened.
Do you like the currently accepted meaning of the word "standard"?
How about "gender"?
Some words have more import than others. You want to embrace new watered down meanings, by all means go ahead. I will resist the watering down of words that had specific meanings when I learned them. Yes, I am a little boy with his finger in the dike.

Yes, I am a little boy with his finger in the dike. Well, I guess that makes you a hero I'm out, didn't intend on getting cussed at for trying to understand. You win....no matter what your definition of that word is.

I also think of a hero as being someone that has done somthing that saves/effects/contributes to the better well being of someone else.
A firefighter is a selfless courageous person, but a HERO runs into a burning building to save you.
How does staying a POW voluntarily save anyone else? Now if he was given the option of them releasing him or 50 other men if he chose to stay and he chose to endure more torture to save 50 other men, THATS a HERO!

McCain only picked Palin out of shrewd opportunism, never because he really liked her or respected her. It's sick how he used her for her genitals but the Left gives him a pass on that.

That cloven-hoofed Feinstein said he had heart and muscle. (Uh, technically true, I suppose.) She also called him Donald McCain. Clearly they were very close.
