Quote: Thieves in Paraguay have stolen 42 powerful rifles from the police armoury.
During an inspection, officers found that the FN FAL battle rifles had been replaced with wooden and plastic replicas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-45320202Kinda funny ... kinda.

Thieves...seems legit. I read years ago about the number of police in Tijuana that had sold their sidearms , seems like it was a substantial number.

Reminds me of the Sarah Silverman show when the guy stole the cops gun at the supermarket and replaced it with a banana http://www.cc.com/video-clips/kt9nbx/th ... zi-hold-up

No way they were worth $10,000/ea or even all 42 together. China ships full auto new AKM's to anyone with money who can have them landed for under $200 per rifle. SN#s and markings are optional.

“The inspection had been ordered after the rifles started appearing a year ago on the black market, where they can fetch up to $10,000 (£7,785).“
It’s a quote from the story.

I know it's what the article says, but $10,000 USD is about the average income for a Paraguyan over a period of 30 years.
