That's a pretty strong condemnation. The feed was also up last year and I would liken it more to a boring episode of COPS than wallowing in self-righteousness over someone else's misfortune.
Drug deals happen in the open, you get some scuffles and once a week or so the police show up and do their thing ("their thing" varies from one visit to the next). Last year most of the attention was focused on how none of the drivers bothered stopping at the stop sign.
The guy who started the feed last year did it because the street activity was hurting his business and Everett PD and everyone else in a position to stop it didn't want to deal with it. Apparently whatever lip service they paid to the problem last year has evaporated and the camera owner felt the need to restart it.
It did come across as a condemnation, didn't it? Thank you for pointing that out.
I didn't mean it that way.
Maybe it came out that way, because I had just watched the Bill Whittle video? I dunno. But seriously, you gotta admit I did a pretty good job of condemning condemnation with a straight face.
Bottom line... I try to stay aware. So I pay attention to this kind of stuff, just enough to be situationally aware. It would be depressing to spend more time than necessary, watching this kind of stuff. And being so, I have to wonder why anyone would WANT to watch it any more than they had to.
That is more along the lines of what I meant to say. Maybe no one else has the same problem. In which case, I was also assumptive.
I won't change the post, because I don't believe in sweeping problems under the rug and pretending they didn't exist. No one learns, that way. But I AM sorry if anyone was made to feel insulted by the post. I didn't mean to condemn or to insult. But I certainly don't seem to have said what I DID mean to say. LOL
