Thanks Guys. Seriously. I appreciate your and your family’s sacrifices. I needed the military, but was ‘ineligible’. So I genuinely appreciate the service I couldn’t provide.

One of my more memorable USN experiences was having a pair of navy dentists remove my perfectly healthy wisdom teeth with hammers and chisels. No wisdom teeth allowed on submarines. And the two dentists were brutal.

He was Medical Service Corps Dental for 26 years, ran the schools at both 32nd Street in San Diego & Great Lakes in Illinois, ran the Dental Clinic on Guam during Viet Nam years. Me: USN, 1981-86 EM2

In 1983 I went to a Navy dentist for a root canal. I called him 'Commander', which was his rank. He said "My name is Bob. I'm out of here in 4 months and I'll be making over $150 Thou a year!" as he smiled nodded his head.
