I believe in the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Imprisoning someone before trial has always been unsettling for me.

"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted." 8th Amendment.

So, I'm mixed. I'm uncomfortable with confining INNOCENT people. I don't have an issue with forcing someone facing trial to put up a bond to ensure their appearance. Then again, should it be based on wealth (therefore a penalty or reward for poor or rich people)? I'm not sure on the remedy if they cannot bond out - I guess take away their liberty? Then aren't you punishing a poor person, akin to debtor prisons.

It's a hard issue.

This is all about money people. It cost money to house people in jail, it costs more money to house poor people in jail who can’t afford bail. The money they save is worth way more than the bail money they get, and if they don’t show up to court they pop them for a higher charge.plus the whole get a new ID won’t work for the illegals because every time they process someone they fingerprint them digitally so unless Joe illeagle can somehow switch his fingerprints they are going to find out and bust him for that too. WHAT This really sucks for is the victims of these Nonviolent Crimes. You get pickpocketed, or your car broken into or your house burgled, even if they catch the guy do you honestly think they are going to do time? No, because California, or most urban state governments don’t care about the honest working taxpayers. They just want money from them.
