I think this video is a couple years old now, but this is the first time I've seen it. My apologies if it's been posted before, but it's worth checking out. A high school kid made it his mission to interview as many WWII vets as he can before they pass away, and he's still at it several years later. I really wish more of our homegrown millennials had the heart of this son of immigrant parents. First, a CBS interview with him a couple years ago, then a link to his youtube channel, and a link to his website:
What a fine young Man. Every minute he spends interviewing is worth it, i wish i would have done that with my Great Uncle.
Same here. My grandfather was on the destroyer USS Higbee, right off the coast of Japan, when both bombs were dropped. And he was part of a landing party that put boots on the ground afterwards. But he never would talk about his time during the war. The details I learned came by finding a website for the ship online and reading another sailor's journal they had posted there. I think it would benefit all future generations to learn as much as possible from that greatest generation. Wish I would have tried harder to get my grandfather to tell his story.

That's awesome! I was talking with some uncles of mine a year ago about doing something similar, but with WWII veterans from all sides. Still not sure how I'll obtain the funding for such a task.

Even more intriguing that his family is a recent addition to America. Immigrants sometimes have a better perspective on 'The American Experience' than we do.
