Well, the time has come, I cannot put it off any longer. I am 47 years old and need an eye doctor. Until now, pistol shooting has not been something I have had much of anything to do with. Shooting scoped rifles has not been an issue. Recently, however, I have decided to EDC. I bought a SIG p365, a holster, and a belt. I am very satisfied with the equipment.
Unfortunately, my eyesight is so bad that when shooting the pistol the entire gun is just a blur. I can hardly see any color from the big Green Dot of the front sight. I can hit an 18" square piece of paper, but it ain't pretty.
Can anyone recommend an optometrist who understands shooting sports and how to correct vision for it and who is firearm friendly?
I am in Everett but willing to travel to find the right doctor.

Healey Vision, Redmond.... She sets up a lot of Competitors in the shoooootin sports. Call her, bring your choice of equipment unloaded in an appropriate case ..... of course. She will Dial you in. Rudy Project shootin' glasses. I use dual vision....right eye front site, left for distance. During a stage I squint the left slightly.

I wish you to find honest eye doctor, not just f* sales rep. However, contacts or glasses do not solve the problem. I have 8 MOA Burris Fastfire III on my EDC (yeah, I wish I could afford RMR, but I am on a budget...). It works great at day or night. I am farsighted (+2.5) and can punch a bullseye all day long wIthout wearing glasses.

Healey will also set you up with contacts ...if that what works best for you.

I was going to Costco for eye exams till I went on my wife's insurance and started going to her optometrist. I haven't noticed much of a difference in the eye exam itself.
As far as what to do with your eyesight it depends on what's going on. I've had terrible vision all my life, haven't been able to see the E at the top of the chart clearly since grade school. It got progressively worse till my mid/late 20s, then leveled off until my mid 30s, and has been 'getting better' since then (I'm in my early 40s). Getting better is a relative term, my extreme nearsightedness is going away. I'm not sure if I will need readers in the future, the people I inherited this eye sight from don't/didn't need them.
If you are just getting to the stage where you need readers then the cheap drug store glasses are probably the best option. Buy them by the half dozen and stash them all over, you'll lose them or forget them. If you are having problems beyond arms length an optometrist will be in order. You can get progressive contacts that correct for nearsightedness and also work as readers. They take a lot of getting used to. You have to learn to use your peripheral vision.
Do you have trouble reading?
Is it the speed at which you can change focus between the sights and the target?

During a stage I squint the left slightly. Thanks for the feedback. I'm in the same boat. Two sets of glasses in the last year and they don't work for shooting. Focal point for the front/rear sight is blurred. I was wondering if there was a specialist that works with "deplorable gun people". I'll give them a call. The link? https://healeyvision.com/

The Eye Care Center in Bellevue. They are top notch. My wife used to work there for two years.

Healy sounds like they come with good references.
I went to Alderwood Optical (the office manager is smoking hot) and saw Dr. Sharma. I asked her if she could set me up with shooting specs once I scraped some dough together and she didn't blink < that's an optometrist joke there, son! Didn't blink - Ha!
Anyway... I never came up with the scratch to get some shooting specs (hell, I haven't updated my prescription) but I can say, at least, that she was willing to set up shooting glasses.
