There are 10k+ WaGunners, and an untold thousands who view as guests.

Pretty confident that the meaning is he was chiming in with his thoughts and not being confrontational. :cheers2:

He responded directly to my comment, but those are just unneeded details apparently.

Interesting. But let's keep this in perspective. He has given:

To support 594: $500,000
To support 1639: $1,000,000
To support these Republicans: $100,000

That's right . . . he has given fifteen times as much to Washington state gun control measures.

I'm sticking with, "Fuck Paul Allen" and "Fuck the Seahawks."

He gave them that money on the off hand chance they might win, then he can go to them after and say I donated, you owe me. He probably gave a cool million to the dems, but wants to keep that quiet.

Indeed

The NFL wont miss a revenue stream they never had.

pretty narrow view of economics.....all business MUST rely on new customers due to a little something called attrition...people move away, people die, people lose interest. If they are not getting new customers and keeping as many of the old as possible...revenue streams decrease, plain and simple.

BTW boycotts do work, they just require people with real fortitude, those willing to set aside something they like for something they love

Allen has been labeled a racist and fascist and there have been calls for boycotts of his teams, the Seahawks and Trailblazers.

I understand how economics work, and I know how much of a money making monster the NFL is.

The game is forever changing and with the constant input of new apps, fantasy football, gambling, and video games like Madden, there are more younger fans coming in, than old ones leaving.

Agree, in theory, but the theory needs tweaking, as times have changed...

It used to be revenue just came from ticket sales, a little merchandise, and small, mostly local, tv revenue...

Now, every team has some sort of national following, because as people move, they now can still follow their favorite home team.

TV revenues have networks falling over themselves to bid hundreds of millions for the broadcast rights, additonally, there are entire shows feeding this, as well.

Merchandising is now into the multiple billions per year as well, and merchandise sales were UP 40% last year, despite all the controversy...

Combine that with Madden Football Computer Game income, and Fantasy Football Leagues, and their income is still on the crazy ride up.

They don't just get new fans all the time (kids watching with their folks), but now those fans generate more money than ever, across multiple platforms....

It's no longer just watching the game on Sundays for everyone, like it used to be... for many, they go to a couple of games a year, buy Jerseys, buy Madden Football & play it competitively (remember the recent shooting?), pay for the NFL channel & NFL Channel on cable, and play fantasy football in leagues.

So, they aren't just garnering new fans every time a new boy or girl sits down to watch football with the family, they are monetizing fans much more efficiently now, and in a variety of ways.
