What we should be focusing on is energizing all those lazy gun owners who don't bother to vote or join the NRA. If the NRA were 20 million members instead of 5, would we even be having this conversation? If all gun owners voted and voted Pro-Gun would we be worried about the Second Amendment?

I see your goal as admirable and worthy as a coinciding effort to prevent the watering of the Tree.

Taking this tact...

How would you characterize the NRA's current approach to 'reaching people'?

Divisive, not inclusive. Alarmist.

In their defense, when you see a terrible monster rushing towards you, do you have time to present a calm and articulate explanation of why the monster is bad?

you need to remember that the NRA is and always will be a group dedicated to marksmanship and sportsmanship, they only got into lobbying and defending gun rights when the Democrats decided to go after the Second Amendment.
A lot of hate has been thrown at the NRA from both sides, but they are us, we are them. The NRA are gun owners trying to enjoy their sport. They are not perfect, cannot see the future and have limited budgets and agendas that go beyond defending the Second Amendment.

Can they do better, yes they can, I think Dana Loesch and Colion Noir are steps in the right direction.....and BTW look at how the left is treating them.....do you think anyone else is going to volunteer to be a spokesperson for the NRA?

This war for our rights is part of a larger culture war, a war on western society. We had better recognize that before it is too late and we indeed have to refresh the tree of liberty.

The NRA is constantly in the crosshairs and is the first group that Liberals blame when someone decides to shoot up a building.

When they are constantly on the defense and being blamed for shootings not even done by their members, its kind of hard to "reach people".

I think the Democratic Party (and all others) should give up on gun control..... as a platform item. They should have figured it out by now, that this line of attack getting more flammable as the days go on, and not really all that benefiting to the party.
