Affordable areas near Seattle/Bellevue

Vashon or the Kitsap Peninsula area. If they can go a little farther, the Port Townsend area. Leavenworth area, but they'll have to like snow and tolerate the tourist periods. There's a reason why these areas are starting to get gray. I went to HS in Leavenworth 25 years ago and the median age in town has increased by 10 years. I do mortgage loans and I have done quite a few loans for retirees out in the Port Orchard and Bremerton areas. I used to work in Leavenworth in the early 80's during the summer tourist season. You can't twist my arm enough to spend any time there now. |

Try to convince them to stay away from the big city spots. If I were to retire right now, I would look for a place in White Salmon overlooking the gorge.

Bremerton/Port orchard area is nice. A ferry ride away from Seattle.

They might also consider Camano island. View property there is still reasonably priced and it's a quiet area.
